Third Party Release

To be eligible to receive funding, support, and rewards from third-party organizations, you must agree to the release of the following information from your National Board account to those organizations:

  • Personal Information: Name, candidate ID, email address, employment details (school, district, and state), and years of teaching experience
  • Candidacy Information: Application status (whether registration fee was paid, amount, and date paid), certification details (certificate and specialty area, start and end cycles, retake attempts completed and remaining), component purchase details (whether component fee was paid, amount, and date paid; whether a purchased component was submitted); and certification status (certification issue and expiration dates). No scores will be released.

  • I hereby confirm that I have carefully read the Guide to National Board Certification (the “Guide”). I agree to comply with and be bound by all policies and procedures set forth in the Guide, and in the sources referenced in the Guide, including but not limited to those relating to confidentiality, deadlines, withdrawals, and refunds. 
  • I confirm I have carefully read the Eligibility Requirements located in the Guide and verify that I understand I must possess a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution and hold a valid state teaching license BEFORE registering and purchasing a component. NOTE: Candidates registering for the Career and Technical Education certificate are required to hold a bachelor’s degree only if their state requires one for their current license.
  • I understand that I must complete three years of successful teaching (or service as a school counselor if I apply for the ECYA/School Counseling certificate) BEFORE the end of the third year of my candidacy to be eligible for National Board Certification. I confirm I have read and understand the criteria for “successful” teaching or school counseling on page 7 of the Eligibility Verification Forms and Instructions. 
  • I understand that I must complete three years of successful teaching (or school counseling if applying for ECYA/School Counseling) and meet the National Board score requirements BEFORE I will be eligible to achieve Board certification. I certify that the information I have provided in this account is true and correct to the best of my knowledge and belief.
  • I understand and agree to the terms of the Certification Denial or Revocation Policy that describes areas of misconduct and consequences of unethical practices.
  • I agree that in the event I achieve National Board Certification, the National Board will publish my name in the NBCT Directory, along with my state, city, school district, year certified, and certification expiration date.
  • I understand that email will be the primary means of communication to receive important information and updates throughout my candidacy. The National Board may also occasionally contact me via text message. Text messages will be sent by a staff member who identifies themselves as National Board staff, and I will be able to text or call back the number to verify its validity.
  • I understand there is a $75 registration fee that will be charged to my account at the beginning of each assessment cycle and must be paid before I can purchase a component(s). I also understand that the $75 registration fee is nonrefundable and nontransferable, regardless of circumstance.
